Structural engineering firm, Degenkolb, asked us to design one of their favorite pieces of marketing communication: the annual holiday card. In an effort to create a piece with a lasting emotional impression, I developed an unexpected solution consisting of an accordion-folded stamp sheet inside of a vellum envelope. The piece celebrated those moments, people, and places that act as personal and structural foundations in our individual lives. Each employee of the company was asked to submit a photo fitting that description to create the final stamp collage. We then invited their clients to participate in the project and launched an online version of the card where clients could contribute their own photos—and in turn Degenkolb would donate $10 for each submission to charity.
